Gearslutz Review News: Are you a Gearslut? Want to WIN a sE Rupert Neve RN17 Stereo Pair this February worth over £2000!
Become a “Gearslutz Reviews” contributor by posting gear reviews on the recently launched Gearslutz Reviews Board and you could have a pair of sE Rupert Neve RN17 small diaphragm instrument microphones in your mic cupboard. That said, we don't expect they'll spend too many sessions in your mic cupboard once you've started to record with them! Find out more about the sE RN17.
How To Enter
Once you have posted a review on the Reviews Board, email gearslutz@seelectronics.com with a link to your review and your contact details (name, e-mail, contact number, website e.g. your studio website, blog etc). The review must be at least 200 words.
Can I Enter More Than Once?
Yes, the more reviews you publish, the more tickets you can have in the virtual hat and the better your odds. Please e-mail gearslutz@seelectronics.com every time you publish a new review to claim ownership and another ticket with your name on it will fall into the hat. Be a true Gearslut and review your studio! The winner will be pulled randomly on February 29th 2012. There is no cash alternative. This is a global competition. The prize consists of a sE Rupert Neve RN17 Stereo Pair with factory matched cardioid and omnidirectional capsules, two custom shock-mounts, a premium flight-case and a further 6 canisters to hold the optional supercardioid, hypercardioid and figure of 8 capsules.
Anyone who entered the December 2011 Gearslutz Review draw (sponsored by sE Electronics) and/or the January 2012 sE Munro Gearslutz Review draw is automatically entered into this month's gearslutz draw.

Why are sE Electronics offering Gearslutz review contributors who also review non-sE products an opportunity to WIN sE gear? As the manufacturer of sE Electronics microphones, sE Rupert Neve microphones and sE Munro monitors, we are interested in genuine market feedback on all studio gear. Having said that, it's always good to receive feedback on our own products. For example, sE Munro Egg 150 Gearslutz Review by 'AHappyHourHero'.

January Update: Arthur Stone who won the last sE X1 has subsequently posted a sE X1 review with audio of the sE X1 and Rode NT1-A (Arthur had a NT1A already) on the Gearslutz Reviews Board. Read the full review here but here's a couple of quotes:
"First I must declare that I won this microphone in the Gearslutz Gear Review; does this affect my review?...of course it does, but I wouldn't write a good review if it was a bad mic. I'm very grateful to sE Electronics (and Jules!) for the prize particularly as it is such a gem"
"Out the box my first impression is that it is solid and well-designed; as a trained mechanical engineer I'm quite picky about that. The mic is - dare I say it - sexy"
"Not a scientific test by any means...but I like the full-bodied vibe, smoothness, and dimensionality of the sE X1 - the NT1A sound is nice too but is a bit thinner in the low-mids and has a slight rasp. On the guitar tracks the sEX1 seems to articulate the strings well in comparison, also the guitar tapping at the end is significantly more musical. The sEX1 seems a bit weightier - which I like"

Microphones on test - sE X1, Neumann TLM 102, AKG P220 and Rode NT1-A.
