RT1 Ribbon Tube - Discontinued
The RT1 Ribbon Tube mic is now discontinued. Launched in early 2006 as a prototype it was the world's first Ribbon microphone with a tube. The tube ribbon mic built on the hugely successful sE R1 Ribbon, considered one of the best mics in it's class but added a silky warmth to the 'standard' sE Ribbon sound. The RT1 shipped with a full shock mount and black aluminium flight case and sE mic cable.
For anyone lucky enough to find a sE Electronics Ribbon Tube microphone for sale, the RT1 is ideally suited to recording electric guitar cabs, overhead drum mic-ing, brass and woodwind instruments, string sections and for commercial broadcast and voice-over. However, sE ribbon technology has moved on with the Voodoo VR1 and Voodoo VR2 ribbon microphones which offer unprecedented high frequncy reponses for ribbon microphones. Subsequently processing such a premium ribbon mic source with a valve audio processor would yield an unparalled tube ribbon.
