The V BEAT & V CLAMP: Superior isolation & effortless sonics, all with minimal footprint & maximum flexibility.
Effortlessly amazing sound for any snare or tom drum, whether on-stage or off.
The V BEAT is the most compact drum microphone in its class, intended for use with snare or tom drums. Unlike the V7, which is optimized for vocals, the V BEAT features the same high-grade sonic performance as the V7 X instrument dynamic, but in a dedicated low-profile & drum-friendly form factor. Tuned for instrumental use, it can also be used on sources such as electric guitar speaker cabinets or brass instruments.
Its specialized capsule provides a highly detailed, extremely natural sound character on snares or toms of any size, with amazing off-axis rejection to minimize bleed from nearby drums and cymbals. Its ultra-compact design and parallel XLR connector & stand mount give it the smallest footprint in its class, and its rock-solid swivel mount allows its angle to be adjusted with great precision – so it can be aimed at almost any part of the drum head to achieve whatever sound character is required.
Compact, flexible, and minimalist design
The V BEAT utilizes an extremely low-profile mechanical design, with the XLR connector and stand mount integrated in parallel on the underside of the flexible swivel mount. This minimizes the V BEAT’s footprint, removes any cables from line-of-sight, and negates the need for any right-angle adapters or special cables.
It also means there’s no danger of cables interfering with the drummer’s performance, as they are kept out of the way of cymbals and drum sticks alike.
When used as intended with the V CLAMP, the V BEAT becomes even more compact and even more flexible.
The V CLAMP adds another axis of vertical movement for even better fine-positioning ability, and keeps the V BEAT securely fastened to your drum rim while adding barely any bulk to the overall footprint.
The heart of the V BEAT: the DMC7 X capsule
The custom DMC7 X capsule offers the same technologies and features as its sibling within the acclaimed V7, including the innovative, specialized aluminum voice coil. While the V7 is optimized for vocals, the capsule in the V BEAT has been custom-tuned for instrumental use. With aluminum being a much lighter material than the industry standard (copper), it delivers an open and transient-rich sound, with deep and clear lows for stellar performance. The midrange is also extremely balanced, supporting the natural resonances of percussive instruments.
The excellent off-axis rejection of this sophisticated capsule also helps isolate your drums from other sound sources on the stage - efficiently reducing stage bleed and spill from other drums, cymbals and more. The supercardioid pattern also allows you to easily tailor the bottom-end by adjusting the proximity effect – i.e. distance to the drum head.
Proven Neodymium magnets, tight production tolerances and high workmanship ensure excellent sensitivity, high-end sound quality and superb consistency.
Unique, patented integrated capsule suspension
The V BEAT’s advanced internal capsule suspension efficiently decouples the capsule from mechanical vibration, isolating it from shocks & jolts and eliminating the need for an external shock mount.
All-metal housing & spring steel grille with gold XLR connector
The V BEAT’s road-ready chassis is all metal, with no fragile plastic parts. The chassis' high quality, highly durable die-cast zinc alloy is designed to hold up under on-stage stress for years, the spring steel mesh grille is dent-proof and corrosion-free for perfect reliability, and the tightening knob for the swivel mount maintains a rock-solid hold on the V BEAT in any position.
Plus, the V BEAT’s gold-plated XLR connector ensures a loss-free and reliable signal connection for years to come.
The red internal windscreen efficiently reduces unwanted popping, plosives and wind noise - and in case you prefer a more visually subtle black windscreen, we have also included one as a standard accessory.
Knurled nut for other mounting accessories
Some popular drum mic mounting systems (such as the LP® Mic Claw) include a knurled nut to secure the mic in position. However, these third-party nuts may partially block the XLR connector on the V BEAT due to its extremely space-efficient design – so we have included a knurled nut with a smaller outer diameter to solve this problem for you.
1. Store your drums with the V CLAMP still attached.
If your drum cases are large enough, you can leave the black bracket attached when you put your drums away, saving valuable setup and teardown time. Just remove the mic (still attached to the metal standoff) from the bracket and store it separately (in a V CASE, for example) - then when it’s showtime, you can just slide it right back into the V CLAMP and you’re ready to go.
2. Use different bracket grooves for differently-sized drums.
The black bracket of the V CLAMP has three separate grooves in its upper jaw. Depending on the height of the rim of your particular drums, you may find that one groove allows for a better fit than the other two. Feel free to experiment!
3. Use a cable tie for extra safety or organization.
The hole in the silver-colored stem of the V CLAMP allows you to insert a cable tie wrap. If you are using the V CLAMP upside down (for example, for a snare bottom mic) it’s a good idea to do this - that way, even if the knob hasn’t been properly locked, if the mic starts to fall it’ll be stopped by the cable tie wrap and won’t fall on the floor.
The hole also allows you to tie down your mic cables - especially useful for organizing cables in very large drum kits.

“I’ve had the opportunity to use this combination on Justin Timberlake’s “Man of the Woods” Tour and I was blown away by how much the mics captured the body, tone and clarity of my drums. The V Beat and V Kick give me the full sound that I’ve been looking for as well as the clarity of the tones of my drums and cymbals.”
“I’ve also had the opportunity to take them in the studio for 12 episodes of “The Masked Singer” Season 2 and once again… I was blown away by the fullness and clarity of these amazing mics. It actually made me play different. I didn’t have to hit the drums so hard. It allowed me to enjoy what I’m playing and dive into the music more.”
“All in all these mics are complete. They have shaped my sound even after 27 years of touring. I’m thankful for this opportunity to be a part of such a great sound and family.”
“I mean every word.”
- Brian Frasier-Moore, Drummer (Justin Timberlake, Jill Scott, Aaliyah, Usher, Goodie Mob, Patti LaBelle, Backstreet Boys, Toni Braxton, Queen Latifah, Babyface, Christina Aguilera, Madonna)
"It's got to be the most natural, rounded sound on a tom I've ever heard, and it's the sound I've been searching for for 20 years...and I'm happy to say I've finally found it."
- Christian Cowlin, FOH Engineer (The Wailers)
"Whether you record your drums at home or mic them up for the stage, the sE drum mics are a must. They have a wide range of dynamics while maintaining the pure, true tone of the drum. I have used these mics the entire year on Season 2 of FOX's ‘THE MASKED SINGER’, and right away network execs have RAVED about how amazing the drums sound. They will continue to be a part of my BBE TV sound for years to come.”
“LET’S GO V SERIES!!!!"
- Adam Blackstone, Musical Director / Producer (Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Rhianna, Eminem, Janet Jackson, Maroon 5, Dr. Dre, The Roots, The Jonas Brothers)
"The V BEAT has provided one of the most natural and fattest snare sounds I’ve ever achieved, and this has been with a variety of musicians using different kits!”
“And on rack toms, the V BEAT gives you great honest tone that you can sculpt but still has a great punchy bottom end that doesn’t get ‘flubby’. I’ve officially put my other tom mics to rest!”
- Eddie Mapp, FOH Engineer (Evanescence)
“On close-mic'd snare, this broad low end boost really brought out the depth of the drum…in mixing, I found I could easily dig out the tones I needed.”
“While the sE mics output an almost identical level to an SM57, the transient response of the sE is better, which gives the sE mics a more lively and dynamic sound. Additionally, the sE mics respond well to slight changes in position, so I could dial in large changes of low end girth.”
- Adam Kagan, Tape Op Magazine (full review)
“I’m in love with the new setup and the clamp - it’s really, really sturdy. The mics aren’t moving anywhere, they’re not falling…you know when they get loose and you get that little buzz? It’s got none of that. I’m loving it.”
- Derrick Wright, Drummer (Adele, Toni Braxton, Babyface)
“Considering all the styles of drumming I might come across, the V Pack Arena kit delivered as well as, or extremely close to, all my drum miking favorites curated over many years.”
- Rob Tavaglione, Pro Audio Review (full review)
“Great, natural-sounding mic…making my drums sound AMAZING. I would recommend these in the studio, live, everywhere. Just a great sounding microphone.”
- Aaron Draper, Percussionist (John Mayer, Adele, Rhianna)
“The sE V Series captures all the attack and tone of my drums with amazing clarity and transparency. Their ultra-compact design - paired with the ingenious addition of the V CLAMPS - makes it extremely easy to set up quickly and get going.”
- Daniel Erlandsson, Drummer (Arch Enemy)
“I simply love the new sE drum microphone line! I’ve been using the V KICK on the resonate kick head and bass guitar cabinet. V BEATS are used on all toms and snares. These mics are robust and can really take a beating. The V CLAMP mounting hardware is second to none. I can easily adjust the tom or snare mics into any position that I desire effortlessly.”
- Ryan Pickett, FOH Engineer (My Morning Jacket, Jim James, Ray LaMontagne) - sE Artist
“They’ve got so much rejection, it’s insane. I mean…if I solo up the kick and the toms, they sound like they’ve already been gated. It’s great.”
- Brad Wood, Producer / Mixer (Liz Phair, Pete Yorn, Touché Amoré, Lisa Loeb)
“With the new V BEAT and V KICK microphones, I honestly went in to the studio with a few hours to set up everything and record...they sounded really good from the get-go, and there was minimal effort in making the kick and toms shine. They capture the tones I want to hear from my drums. Seriously impressive.”
- Ken Bedene, Drummer (Aborted)
